The cryptocurrency market has reacted strongly to the escalating tensions in the Middle East. Bitcoin (BTC), the leading cryptocurrency, lost nearly 8% of its value in a matter of minutes, with other cryptocurrencies experiencing even greater losses. This sharp drop in crypto value coincides with reports of Iran’s official attack on Israel.

Data from CoinMarketCap shows that at the time of writing, Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $62,049, with a market cap exceeding $1 trillion. The coin’s value has fallen by 7.51% over the past hour, and its daily trend shows a similar downward trajectory.

Ethereum and Other Cryptocurrencies Also Affected

Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency, also suffered a significant loss. According to CoinMarketCap, ETH lost nearly 9% of its value, trading at $2924 at the time of writing. The market cap for ETH was over $353 billion, with a trade volume exceeding $41 billion.

Among the top 20 cryptocurrencies, Shiba Inu (SHIB), XRP, and Avalanche (AVAX) experienced the greatest losses. SHIB lost nearly 13.01%, XRP dropped 13.89%, and AVAX fell 12.46%.
