Ethereum On The Rise? Key Indicator Hints At Bullish Shift

Key Points

  • Ethereum’s Taker Buy Sell Ratio is close to crossing its center line, indicating a potential rise in bullish sentiment.
  • Despite this, bearish sentiments persist, with ETH’s Futures Open Interest and funding rates showing significant declines.

Ethereum’s Taker Buy Sell Ratio Nears Center Line

Ethereum’s Taker Buy Sell Ratio, a measure of the volume ratio between buying and selling in the futures market, is on the verge of crossing its center line.

This suggests a potential increase in bullish sentiment for the cryptocurrency, despite recent market turbulence.

As of the latest data, Ethereum’s Taker Buy Sell Ratio stood at 0.96.

Bearish Sentiments Prevail

However, an examination of Ethereum’s spot and futures markets reveals a strong bearish sentiment.

This is evidenced by the significant drop in Ethereum’s Futures Open Interest, which measures the value of futures contracts that are yet to be closed.

The Open Interest has fallen to its lowest since February 28th, and has declined by 27% in the past week alone.

In addition, Ethereum’s funding rates briefly turned negative on April 14th, indicating a large number of market participants trading against the coin’s price.

This is the first time a negative funding rate has been recorded since the bull market rally began in October 2023.

Technical indicators in Ethereum’s spot market suggest the possibility of a further decline in price.

The Awesome Oscillator, which measures market momentum, showed downward-facing red histogram bars, indicating increased selling pressure.

Similarly, Ethereum’s Parabolic Stop and Reverse (SAR) indicator, used to identify potential trend direction and reversals, showed the dots resting above the coin’s price.

This is commonly interpreted as a bearish sign.

Despite the potential rise in bullish sentiment indicated by the Taker Buy Sell Ratio, these factors suggest that bearish sentiments continue to dominate the market.
