Key Points
- Bitcoin transaction count shows a strong uptrend, surpassing 1 billion transactions.
- Despite high transaction count, Bitcoin’s active addresses and volume have declined in the past month.
Bitcoin’s daily transaction count has seen a significant uptrend compared to its previous cycle.
However, a decline in the active addresses and volume has been observed over the past month.
Bitcoin’s Milestone and Market Activity
Recently, Bitcoin (BTC) reached an impressive milestone of 1 billion transactions. As of now, the total all-time transaction count is 1,000,803,494.
Despite a price above the $62k mark, Bitcoin lacks a strong short-term trend. The movement of holdings from a dormant BTC wallet that is 10 years old has sparked interest.
In the past two months, a large buying spree from BTC whales has been observed. This suggests the potential for a strong bull run. The network’s security remains robust.
Increasing Adoption and Usage
The daily transaction count has slowly trended higher over the past year, with a significant spike on April 23rd, reaching 921k transactions for the day.
This increased activity is a positive sign of adoption and usage, surpassing the transaction count from the previous bull run cycle.
The hash rate, indicative of the energy miners need to secure the network, has also trended higher. This increased security is comforting for long-term investors and contributes to Bitcoin’s value.
In February and March 2024, Bitcoin’s price rallied from $42.1k to $73k. The 7-day moving average transaction volume also steadily trended higher.
Despite the high transaction count, the volume has fallen compared to the local peak in March. The daily active addresses have also slowly lost steam in the past five weeks.
Therefore, while the activity has trended higher over the past year, there has been a downturn in the past month.
Compared to other networks, Bitcoin’s daily transaction count is less. For instance, Ethereum (ETH) has averaged 1.1 million transactions a day in the past two months, reaching a high of 1.96 million on January 14th.
