"$64K Barrier Holds Bitcoin Back: Key Indicators Suggest a Potential Surge"

Key Points

  • Bitcoin’s price action remains stagnant, failing to rise above $64k, with a bearish sentiment prevalent in the market.
  • Despite some metrics indicating potential bullish movement, selling pressure on Bitcoin remains high.

Bitcoin’s [BTC] price has been disappointing to investors as it has not managed to climb above $64k in recent days. A key BTC metric has also entered an area of uncertainty, suggesting that investors may need to wait longer for a price increase.

Data from CoinMarketCap shows that BTC’s value has decreased by over 2% in the past week. This has resulted in BTC’s price dropping below $64k, with the current trading price at $63,843.66 and a market capitalization of more than $1.26 trillion.

Negative Price Action and Bearish Sentiment

The negative price action has caused the Weighted Sentiment around Bitcoin to turn bearish on April 27th. Additionally, its Social Volume also saw a slight drop last week, indicating a decrease in BTC’s popularity in the crypto space.

Phi Deltalytics, an author and analyst at CryptoQuant, conducted an analysis using a key BTC metric. The analysis revealed that while the adjusted Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR) of Bitcoin continued to move in a bullish direction, the short-term SOPR has entered a zone of uncertainty. This inconsistency points to a complicated situation where short-term investors are facing losses.

Low MVRV and High Selling Pressure

An analysis of Glassnode’s data revealed that BTC’s Short-Term Holder MVRV (STH MVRV) has dropped over the past few weeks. A low MVRV suggests that the current price of Bitcoin is relatively lower compared to the last transaction prices, indicating that BTC is undervalued. Despite this, BTC’s reserve risk was found to be low, indicating high confidence in the cryptocurrency.

However, not all indicators are optimistic for BTC. Data from CryptoQuant showed that the selling pressure on BTC is high, with its exchange reserve increasing. Its net deposit on exchanges was also high compared to the last seven days’ average.

An analysis of BTC’s daily chart showed that the Money Flow Index (MFI) hinted at a potential price uptick as it moved upwards. However, the Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) remained bearish.
