Key Points
- Donald Trump is confirmed as a keynote speaker at the Bitcoin 2024 conference.
- The House of Representatives has postponed its vote on overriding President Biden’s SEC veto.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump is set to be a keynote speaker at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee. This conference is one of the largest Bitcoin conferences worldwide.
The event is scheduled to be held from the 25th to the 27th of July. The announcement was made by the conference organizers, ‘The Bitcoin Conference’, via a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Voting Postponed
Interestingly, the Bitcoin conference coincides with the House of Representatives delaying their vote to override President Joe Biden’s veto on the SEC’s anti-crypto rule, SAB 121. The vote, initially planned for the 10th of July, has been moved to the 11th of July.
The postponement came after an urgent letter from President Biden, leading the House to delay the vote. The contents of the letter remain undisclosed. Representative Patrick McHenry, a critic of the SEC’s rule, expressed disappointment, stating, “We should not be doing business this way.”
Trump vs. Biden
The divergent actions of the two presidential candidates underscore the split among crypto voters. Trump’s recent pro-crypto move aligns with his supportive stance. In contrast, Biden continues to adopt a stringent stance towards cryptocurrency as the election nears.
The Bitcoin Therapist commented on X, “Donald Trump is going to win the election and #Bitcoin is going to 150K next year. Nothing stops this train.”
The news also significantly affected the crypto meme market. Trump-inspired memecoin Doland Tremp [TREMP] recorded a 2.4% increase in the past 24 hours. On the other hand, the Biden-inspired memecoin Jeo Boden [BODEN] saw a 16.7% decrease in the same period, as per CoinGecko.
Additionally, Polymarket prediction market data on the “Presidential Election Winner 2024” showed Trump leading with 62%, while Biden fell from 17% to 13%, trailing behind Kamala Harris who stood at 14% in the past 24 hours.
