Arthur Hayes Moves Millions in PENDLE, ENA, LDO to FalconX, Impact on Altcoins

The BitMEX co‑founder’s transfer of PENDLE, ENA, and LDO at lower-than-entry prices to FalconX raises questions about profit-taking, market strategy, and short-term sentiment across major altcoins.

Key Points

  • Arthur Hayes moved multiple altcoin holdings to a crypto brokerage at prices below reported acquisition levels.
  • Transfers occurred amid Bitcoin-led market strength and continued underperformance across most altcoins.

Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, has transferred several cryptocurrency holdings to the prime brokerage platform FalconX.

On-chain data indicates these assets were originally acquired at higher price levels and later moved while trading below those acquisition prices.

Hayes’ Recent On-Chain Activity

Hayes transferred 327,869 PENDLE tokens, valued at approximately $502,000, to FalconX at an average price of $1.53.

Blockchain records show that he previously accumulated about 1.4 million PENDLE at an estimated price of $2.06 per token.

The same wallet address also sent roughly 3.59 million ENA tokens to FalconX, with a transfer value close to $499,000 at a market price near $0.14.

This ENA transfer followed an earlier acquisition of approximately 15.8 million tokens at around $0.23 each.

Earlier the same day, Hayes deposited 2.31 million LDO tokens to FalconX, worth about $980,000 at the time of transfer.

Market data shows LDO was trading near $0.42 during the move, below a reported average purchase price of $0.56 for the position.

On-chain analysts noted that additional transfers could follow, while highlighting that broker deposits may be used for spot sales, over-the-counter trades, or hedging strategies.

Hayes later commented on the transfers through a brief and ambiguous social media post, contributing to short-term market uncertainty.

Broader Market Context

The transactions coincided with a 2.5% rise in the total crypto market capitalization to roughly $2.64 trillion on February 3.

Market data shows an estimated 85% correlation between Bitcoin and the S&P 500, reflecting shared sensitivity to interest rate expectations.

Bitcoin dominance stands near 59.4%, while the Altcoin Season Index declined recently, signaling continued capital allocation toward Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is trading about 83% above its prior cycle high, whereas the TOTAL3 index, which tracks altcoins excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum, is only modestly above its previous peak.

From cycle lows, Bitcoin has recovered approximately 730%, compared with an estimated 300% recovery for the TOTAL3 index.

Some analysts suggest expectations for an immediate, broad-based altcoin rally may be overstated, while others point to signs of a delayed rotation into alternative assets.
