Bitcoin Rally Predicted: Traders Anticipate $77,000 Benchmark Before Halving Occurs

Influence of Gold and S&P 500 All-Time Highs Fuel Bitcoin Predictions Ahead of Halving

Bitcoin Rally Predicted: Traders Anticipate $77,000 Benchmark Before Halving Occurs

Key Points

  • Bitcoin traders are increasingly going long, with the Funding Rate at its highest since March 18th.
  • A rise in Open Interest and short liquidations could potentially lead to a Bitcoin price breakout towards $77,000.

Bitcoin [BTC] traders are showing a shift in their strategies. Instead of predicting a decline in Bitcoin’s price, many are now expecting gains, indicated by a rise in long positions. Being in a long position implies that a trader anticipates a price increase in a cryptocurrency. The Funding Rate, which reveals if longs are paying shorts, is currently at its highest since the 18th of March. As of now, Bitcoin’s price has escalated to $70,368.

Positive Funding and Price Increase

When the Funding Rate becomes more positive as the price increases, it implies that perp longs are aggressive and reaping rewards. In terms of the price, this could be a bullish sign. If this trend continues, Bitcoin’s price might surge beyond the predicted $75,000.

Traders seem to have solid reasons for their bullish stance on Bitcoin, and it appears to be influenced by factors outside the crypto ecosystem. Traditional assets like the SPX and gold are retesting their respective all-time highs, while Bitcoin is struggling to reach $73,000. Historically, such a divergence close to halving suggests that Bitcoin’s pre-halving rally is not over. This could mean that the recent distribution might soon end.

Importance of Open Interest

Despite indications from the Funding Rate, it’s crucial to consider Bitcoin’s Open Interest (OI), which represents the value of open positions in the derivatives market. An increase in OI indicates more liquidity, attention, and volatility in the market. Conversely, a decrease in OI suggests traders are closing their positions. Currently, Bitcoin’s OI is a staggering $17.41 billion.

The rise in OI alongside price action signifies strength for Bitcoin. If the OI continues to increase as Bitcoin’s price does, another all-time high before halving could be on the horizon.

On the other hand, many shorts have seen their positions liquidated within the last hour. According to Coinglass, the liquidation heatmap suggests that Bitcoin might soon reach $73,311. If this happens, open contracts worth approximately $6.31 million would be liquidated.

A significant portion of these liquidations might be shorts using medium to high leverage. From a trading perspective, a large Open Interest coupled with short liquidations could potentially trigger a breakout. While Bitcoin might not hit $80,000, a possible rise towards $77,000 is a prediction that could come true.
