- Garlinghouse emphasizes the importance of real-world utility and adoption for sustained growth in the cryptocurrency sector.
Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple, has recently discussed two significant factors influencing the trajectory of the crypto market.
These include the increasing volumes of Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and the upcoming halving event.
Bitcoin’s Influence on the Crypto Market
On the 11th of March, Garlinghouse highlighted the close relationship between traditional financial instruments and the digital asset sphere.
He noted that the broader crypto market tends to follow Bitcoin’s lead, a trend that has been observed over several market cycles.
However, he also emphasized that while Bitcoin may attract attention and speculative fervor, the sustainability of the crypto realm ultimately depends on the integration of Real World Assets (RWA).
The Importance of Real-World Utility
Garlinghouse further stressed the need for bullish sentiment to be paired with real-world utility in the crypto market.
He pointed out that while optimism is positive, it must be aligned with practical applications for genuine progress to occur.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin’s price had surged above $72,000, driven by anticipation of halving events next month, pushing it into the top eight assets globally.
Garlinghouse’s focus on real-world functionality aligns with Ripple’s mission to streamline cross-border payments through blockchain technology, providing cost-efficient solutions for financial institutions.
Other assets like Ethereum and Bitcoin offer similar functionalities.
Ripple CTO Schwartz recently offered his insights on XRP’s gradual appreciation on the chart, noting that Bitcoin had followed a similar trajectory for a long time.
