Bitwise Seeks ETF Approval for Tron, Zcash and 9 More Cryptos

Key Points

  • Bitwise filed multiple strategy ETFs seeking direct and indirect exposure to various altcoins.
  • Several applications remain under SEC review alongside existing spot crypto ETF proposals.

Bitwise Asset Management has expanded its ETF strategy by filing for 11 new funds focused on cryptocurrency exposure.

These proposed ETFs would invest both directly and indirectly in digital assets, broadening access to selected altcoins.

Structure of the Proposed Strategy ETFs

According to regulatory filings submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bitwise applied through updated N‑1A forms to launch these strategy ETFs.

Each fund is structured to allocate roughly 60% of assets directly into a specific cryptocurrency token.

The remaining 40% would be invested in exchange‑traded products offering exposure to the same underlying asset.

The filings indicate that the ETFs may also utilize derivatives such as futures or swap contracts to gain exposure.

The list of cryptocurrencies included in the applications features assets such as TRX, ZEC, AAVE, ENA, HYPE, TAO, NEAR, STRK, SUI, and UNI.

Other Pending and Active ETF Filings

In parallel, Bitwise continues to await regulatory decisions on several pending altcoin ETF applications before the SEC.

The firm previously launched a spot Solana ETF that incorporates staking as a secondary objective, with custody services provided by Coinbase.

Bitwise also maintains a spot Avalanche ETF application, which has been amended to disclose its management fee structure and proposed ticker symbol.

The Avalanche ETF filing outlines a temporary fee waiver, subject to asset thresholds or time limits, pending regulatory approval.
