Key Points
- Ethereum nears the $3,500 resistance level, triggering a sell signal on the 3-day chart.
- The Ethereum Foundation’s wallet deposited 4,000 ETH into Kraken, stirring speculation.
Ethereum, following in the steps of Bitcoin‘s recent rise, finds itself at an important crossroads. Traders are advised to proceed with caution as new data hints at potential changes in the market.
Ethereum Approaches Key Resistance Level
Ethereum displayed a significant sell signal on the 3-day chart as it neared the pivotal $3,500 resistance level. This technical indicator served as a warning to traders, encouraging them to think twice before making major moves in the Ethereum market.
Ethereum whales were also noticed making large transactions. Lookonchain data revealed a substantial transaction from a wallet linked to the Ethereum Foundation.
Significant Deposit into Kraken Raises Questions
This wallet, which had been inactive on Kraken since January 6, 2022, recently deposited 4,000 ETH (around $13.3 million) into the exchange. The wallet had previously received a large amount of 39,006 ETH (approximately $130.6 million) from EthDev on January 6.
With a current balance of 33,006 ETH (roughly $110 million), questions were raised about the foundation’s financial tactics and their potential impact on the market. These large movements can contribute to Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) surrounding Ethereum.
Traders and investors might view these actions as signs of uncertainty, which could affect market sentiment and Ethereum’s short-term price path. The overall sentiment could become bearish as these events raise concerns about Ethereum’s immediate future.
With sell signals and significant movements among major holders, the market seems ready for increased volatility. At the time of writing, Ethereum was trading at $3,445.82, showing a 2.94% increase in the last 24 hours.
However, the sell signal and whale activity cast doubt on the sustainability of this upward trend. Despite these cautionary signs, the network metrics painted a mixed picture. Network growth showed increased interest, with new addresses participating in Ethereum. Velocity, or the rate of Ethereum trades, also showed growth, indicating increased activity.
While examining the overall Ethereum network, it was observed that overall activity remained high, as evidenced by constant gas usage. However, NFT trades on the Ethereum network saw a decline, which could pose future challenges.
