Did Justin Sun Purchase $160 Million Ether? Unraveling the Crypto Whodunit

Key Points

  • A wallet linked to Tron founder Justin Sun reportedly purchased $161 million of Ethereum on February 19th.
  • Ethereum was nearing the $3K mark, trading at $2,932 at the time of the report.
  • A wallet, suspected to be connected to Tron founder Justin Sun, has made a massive purchase of $161 million worth of Ethereum. This has caused a stir in the cryptocurrency community and could potentially signal a positive outlook for Ethereum, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency.

At the time of the report, Ethereum was nearing the $3K mark. It was trading at $2,932, showing an increase of 0.2% and 9.8% in the 24-hour and seven-day timeframes, respectively.

    Tron Connection to Ethereum Purchase

The Ethereum buying spree occurred across leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance and several decentralized exchanges (DEXs). The wallet, identified by the partial address “TWGHNc,” was under scrutiny for its recent hefty transactions.

Analysts believe that the size of these transactions suggests the involvement of a major player with significant influence in the crypto space, such as Justin Sun. This theory is supported by the wallet’s activity patterns, which show a correlation with another address, “0x7a95.”

For example, TWGHNc deposited $5.4 million to HTX. This was followed by a nearly identical withdrawal in Ethereum by 0x7a95 from the same exchange. Additionally, TWGHNc’s 50 million USDT deposit to Binance was closely followed by a 9,959 Ethereum withdrawal from Binance by 0x7a95.

Last week, TWGHNc withdrew a massive $500 million in Tether (USDT) from the now-rebranded Huobi exchange (formerly HTX). Adding to the rumors, the same wallet deposited a hefty $50 million USDT into Binance.

Is This a Bullish Signal for Ethereum?

If the speculation is accurate and Justin Sun is behind these strategic moves, it could indicate a significant expression of confidence in Ethereum. Such an endorsement from Sun could significantly influence and contribute to bolstering Ethereum’s standing.

Meanwhile, Sun recently announced a groundbreaking Bitcoin Layer 2 solution. This initiative seeks to integrate various token types on the Tron network with the Bitcoin network, facilitating smoother cross-chain interactions.

This development is a milestone for Tron and represents a significant leap forward for cryptocurrency as a whole. With plans to bridge over $55 billion in value to the Bitcoin network, Tron’s initiative could rejuvenate the leading cryptocurrency.
