Key Points
- A wallet linked to the Ethereum Foundation transferred $13.3 million worth of Ethereum to Cumberland.
- Despite the transfer, Ethereum’s price remained above $3,500 and could potentially reach $4,000.
On March 3rd, a wallet associated with the Ethereum Foundation moved $13.3 million of the cryptocurrency to Cumberland, a company that provides trading and settlement services for institutions.
This transaction was noted by Lookonchain, a wallet tracking entity. They highlighted that this was the first time in a long while that the foundation had sent funds to this wallet.
Speculations and Market Reactions
The last similar transaction took place on November 8th, 2015. The reasons behind these transactions were not disclosed by the Ethereum Foundation, leading to divided opinions among market participants. Some speculated that the foundation might be planning to sell the coins.
Despite these speculations, Ethereum’s price managed to stay above $3,500. The analysis of on-chain data showed that Ethereum’s exchange inflow was 1658 and its exchange outflow was 1762, indicating more market participants were holding rather than selling.
Potential Price Movements
If the outflow continues to surpass the inflow, Ethereum’s price could potentially reclaim $3,600 and even get close to $4,000. However, an increase in Ethereum flowing into exchanges could cause the price to drop.
The Accumulation/Distribution (A/D) indicator showed that accumulation had surpassed distribution, suggesting a bullish market. Also, Ethereum’s momentum indicated a potential rise in price if the $3,334 support is defended by the bulls.
However, the Awesome Oscillator (AO) displayed a red histogram bar, suggesting a possible slowdown in bullish momentum. A highly bearish scenario could push Ethereum’s price below $3,200. But if the sudden bearish appearance is neutralized, the altcoin’s value might rise towards $4,000.
The Liquidation Heatmap showed that millions of positions could be liquidated if Ethereum hits $3,550 again. It also identified $3,120 as a good liquidity position. Therefore, if Ethereum’s price decreases towards the $3,000 zone, long positions around $3,120 might prove profitable.
The indicator also suggested that Ethereum could hit $4,000 if buying pressure continues to increase. But a shift in market sentiment to the bearish side might stall Ethereum’s upward momentum.
