Key Points
- Ethereum (ETH) maintained significant interest despite Bitcoin’s record high price.
- Multiple indicators suggest that Ethereum is undervalued.
On March 5th, a significant event occurred in the cryptocurrency market as Bitcoin reached a new all-time high.
Despite this, Ethereum was not overshadowed, with the total spot volume for the cryptocurrency exceeding $20 billion on the same day.
Ethereum’s Trading Volume
The surge in volume on Centralized Exchanges (CEXes) indicated that interest in Ethereum remained high.
For example, Ethereum’s trading volume on Binance was over $10 billion.
Other exchanges such as Bybit, Coinbase, and OKX also reported high volumes of Ethereum trading.
However, it’s worth noting that Bitcoin’s total spot volume was higher than Ethereum’s on the same day, reaching $46.25 billion.
Ethereum was able to maintain this level of interest due to its price movements.
Ethereum’s Price Movements
Before Bitcoin’s record high, Ethereum’s price action was moving rapidly, indicating market optimism about the cryptocurrency.
At the time of writing, Ethereum was trading at $3,842, representing a 15.24% increase over the last seven days.
The Accumulation/Distribution (A/D) indicator supported this, with the reading climbing.
The Exponential Moving Average (EMA) also suggested a bullish trend.
If this trend continues, Ethereum’s price could potentially rise above $4,000.
The Supertrend also displayed a buy signal above $3,000, indicating a lack of bearish pressure that could force the price down.
The Aroon indicator showed a bullish bias, suggesting that Ethereum could potentially climb towards $4,500 in the short term.
However, there may be obstacles along the way, as the price might experience pullbacks at certain points.
On-chain data revealed that the number of active addresses for Ethereum spiked to 565,000 on March 5th, indicating increased speculation around the cryptocurrency.
The 30-day Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) ratio was at 25.10%, implying that every Ethereum holder would make a 25% profit if they sold at the current price.
As the ratio was significantly below 100%, it suggested that Ethereum has considerable upside potential.
At the peak of a bull market, the cryptocurrency could potentially double its current value.
However, the timing of this potential increase remains uncertain.
