Exploring Bitcoin: Gauging Our Current Position in the Bullish Cycle

Key Points

  • The traditional four-year market cycle of Bitcoin could be significantly impacted by U.S spot BTC ETF inflows.
  • Galaxy Digital’s CEO of Europe suggests the next cycle could be driven by ETF approval for different cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin, traditionally known for its strict four-year market cycle, may see a shift in its cyclicality due to increased U.S spot BTC ETF inflows.

Changing Cycles

In a recent forum discussion, Leon Marshall, the CEO of Europe at Galaxy Digital, expressed his belief that the introduction of spot BTC ETFs could transform the cyclicality of Bitcoin.

Marshall proposed that the next cycle might be influenced by the approval of ETFs for various cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum, Solana, and Litecoin.

Quinn Thompson, founder of Lekker Capital, echoed Marshall’s sentiments in a podcast with Galaxy Digital’s Head of Research, Alex Thorn.

Thompson highlighted that ETFs can impact Bitcoin in several ways, including adding correlations that could sometimes be inversely related.

Impact on Bitcoin Prices

Thompson also pointed out that ETF inflows can influence Bitcoin prices.

He suggested that we might be further into the traditional four-year cycle than expected.

On the other hand, Rekt Capital, a pseudonymous crypto researcher and trader on X, firmly adheres to the traditional cycle.

According to Rekt Capital, we are only 35% into the cycle, implying a potential rally of over 60% based on the traditional cycle.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin was hovering around $70K.

Keeping track of Bitcoin from both the traditional cycle and new developments is crucial for identifying opportunities and risks.
