Key Points

  • Brad Garlinghouse to headline Wyoming Blockchain Symposium alongside top US regulators and lawmakers.
  • Event occurs amid ongoing CLARITY Act debate and post-settlement regulatory discussions.

SALT announced on July 29 that Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse will headline the third annual Wyoming Blockchain Symposium.

The invitation-only event, co-hosted by SALT and Binance competitor Kraken, will take place August 17–20 at the Four Seasons Resort in Jackson Hole, gathering around 500 investors, builders, and policymakers.

Ripple is listed as a ‘Grand Teton’ tier sponsor alongside Galaxy, Clear Street, and Multicoin Capital, signaling a prominent role beyond a standard speaking appearance.

The symposium comes as Ripple concludes its multiyear legal dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and as federal digital asset legislation remains pending in the Senate.

At the time of the announcement, XRP was trading near $1.06, declining roughly 2% over 24 hours, with daily trading volume around $1.14 billion.

Wyoming Blockchain Symposium Focuses on Regulation

The confirmed speaker lineup includes SEC Chair Paul Atkins, Senator Cynthia Lummis, Representative Tom Emmer, Senator Tim Scott, and Comptroller of the Currency Jonathan Gould.

Industry participants feature Galaxy’s Michael Novogratz, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, Stellar Development Foundation CEO Denelle Dixon, Custodia Bank founder Caitlin Long, Kraken CEO David Ripley, and Ondo Finance’s John Hoffman.

Agenda topics include US and global cryptocurrency regulation, corporate treasury strategies involving Bitcoin (BTC), tokenization of traditional financial assets, and decentralized artificial intelligence infrastructure.

While panel discussions are scheduled on the record, private sessions and excursions on August 20 are set to be off the record, underscoring the event’s closed-door format.

Policy Developments Surround Ripple

Ripple settled its enforcement case with the SEC in March 2026 for $150 million, resolving allegations tied to a $1.3 billion XRP offering launched in December 2020.

Garlinghouse is expected to share the stage with SEC Chair Paul Atkins following the settlement, as regulators and lawmakers continue discussions over digital asset oversight.

On July 22, Garlinghouse urged Congress to move forward with the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, describing it as necessary for consumer protection, with similar comments made by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong.

Although the bill has bipartisan backing, it requires 60 Senate votes and faces opposition from several Democratic senators citing ethics and consumer protection concerns.

Wyoming’s involvement in blockchain initiatives, including the launch of the FRNT stablecoin, adds context to the state’s role as host of the symposium.

The Jackson Hole gathering is positioned as a potential indicator of how quickly SEC rulemaking could advance, particularly if the CLARITY Act remains unresolved before the Senate recess.

No formal policy announcements are scheduled, though discussions may shape regulatory developments heading into the fall conference season.
