Key Points
- Two dormant Bitcoin wallets have recently become active, selling their entire holdings worth over $60 million.
- Bitcoin’s key on-chain metrics have seen significant declines, coinciding with these wallet movements.
Two previously inactive Bitcoin wallets have recently begun transferring all of their Bitcoin (BTC) holdings.
This movement has occurred simultaneously with a decrease in important on-chain metrics, and an increase in greed within the Bitcoin market.
Wallet Activity and Market Impact
Data from Lookonchain has revealed that these two Bitcoin wallets, which had been dormant for almost 11 years, have now become active. Each wallet, containing 500 BTC, has sold their entire holdings.
The data indicates that when these BTCs were bought years ago, they were priced at $124, making each wallet’s value around $62,000.
At the current Bitcoin price, the wallets sold their holdings for over $30 million each, totaling approximately $60.9 million.
This considerable movement has raised questions regarding its potential impact on key on-chain metrics, which have recently been in decline.
Declining On-Chain Metrics
Data from Santiment shows that Bitcoin has seen significant declines in daily active addresses, transaction volume, and whale transactions.
These metrics have seen substantial decreases since their peaks in February and are now nearing historical lows.
At the end of April, daily active addresses were over 815,000, transaction volume was over 1.5 million, and whale transactions were over 73,500.
However, at the time of writing, daily active addresses have decreased to around 545,000, transaction volume has fallen to approximately 495,000, and whale transactions have reduced to around 26,500.
The Bitcoin Fear and Greed Index shows that BTC is currently in the Greed zone, with a score of 56, indicating a sentiment of greed among investors.
This suggests that more people are entering the BTC market in hopes of potential profits.
However, with the current decline in key metrics and the recent sell-off, this could potentially lead to a price decline.
Bitcoin’s daily timeframe price trend shows that it is trading at around $61,100, a less than 1% increase at this time.
This slight increase comes after its previous trading session in the $60,000 price zone.
However, the stochastic indicator suggests a potential price reversal could be imminent.
A crossover in the blue or red line of the indicator could signal a potential reversal in price direction.
