Bitcoin [BTC] has seen a price increase of over 5% in the past week, however, a correction may be on the horizon.
Investors have been closely watching as the cryptocurrency approaches the $70k mark again. Despite this, some indicators suggest a potential price decline.
Indicators of a Potential Price Drop
According to CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin’s price has increased more than 5% in the last seven days. However, a tweet from a well-known crypto analyst, Ali, suggests a potential price drop due to the TD sequential indicator flagging a sell signal.
Historically, whenever this indicator has flagged buy/sell signals, Bitcoin’s price has seen significant movements. Therefore, a closer look at Bitcoin’s current state suggests that a price correction may be inevitable.
Analysis of Bitcoin’s Current State
An analysis of data from CryptoQuant shows that selling pressure on Bitcoin is increasing as its Exchange Reserve rises. The high Exchange Netflow Total, compared to the last seven-day average, further suggests a potential sell-off.
Moreover, Bitcoin’s aSORP is red, indicating that more investors are selling at a profit. In a bull market, this can often suggest a market top.
The Fear and Greed Index also points towards a potential price correction, as it currently shows the market in an “extreme greed” position. Historically, when the index reaches this level, a price correction often follows.
A technical analysis of Bitcoin’s daily chart also suggests a potential correction. The Money Flow Index (MFI) shows a sharp downtick, and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has been moving sideways. The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) also indicates a potential correction.
However, the MACD remains in buyers’ favor, showing a bullish upperhand in the market.
Data from Hyblock Capital suggests that if a price correction does occur, Bitcoin has support near the $68.8k mark. If Bitcoin fails to test this support, its price could potentially drop to $64.4k.
