Understanding the Reason Behind MKR’s Frequent Drops Against ETH When MakerDAO Sells

Understanding the Reason Behind MKR's Frequent Drops Against ETH When MakerDAO Sells

Key Points

  • MakerDAO has been selling MKR tokens, leading to a price decline and decoupling from Ethereum.
  • Despite the decline, metrics suggest a potential price bounce to $3,545.

MakerDAO has been moving MKR tokens to various exchanges, resulting in a decrease in the token’s price.

The organization has transferred $14.4 million worth of MKR to exchanges like Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken over the past two weeks.

Decoupling from Ethereum

Interestingly, MKR’s price movements have been independent of Ethereum (ETH), despite previously showing a strong correlation.

While MKR’s price has fallen, ETH’s price has increased.

More MKR tokens may be deposited into exchanges in the future, which could lead to further decoupling from ETH.

Potential Price Bounce

Despite the price decline, the Market Value to Realized Value Ratio (MVRV) suggests a potential price bounce for MKR.

The MVRV, a metric that tracks profitability and perceived valuation, is currently at -15.19%.

Historically, when the MVRV reaches this level, the price tends to bounce.

If this trend continues, MKR’s price could potentially rise to $3,545 in the coming weeks.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) suggests a bearish momentum for MKR, indicating a potential further price decline.

However, if the RSI reaches 30.00, MKR could be considered oversold and a price rebound could follow.

In the short to midterm, the 0.786 Fibonacci indicator suggests that the price might climb to $3,740.

Despite this, the Money Flow Index (MFI) reveals that capital is flowing out of MKR, which could lead to a further decrease in value.
