The upcoming HBO documentary, “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” is prepared to unravel the identity of Bitcoin‘s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. The director, renowned for disclosing the identities behind QAnon, is expected to shed light on one of modern technology’s biggest mysteries.
Satoshi Nakamoto Speculations
Cryptocurrency enthusiasts and bettors on platforms like Polymarket are speculating that Leonard “Len” Sassaman could be Nakamoto. The documentary, premiering on October 8th, is set to reignite debates about the theories surrounding Bitcoin’s creator since 2009.
Nick Szabo has also become a top candidate for Satoshi Nakamoto on Polymarket in the forthcoming documentary. A day ago, bettors gave Szabo a 27.9% probability of being Satoshi, surpassing cryptographer Len Sassaman, at 14%, and Blockstream CEO Adam Back, at 4.3%.
Sassaman, initially the frontrunner with odds as high as 68% after the market opened on October 4th, saw a decline in support following producer Cullen Hoback’s comments on CNN. Hoback stated he confronted someone he believes is the real Satoshi, excluding Sassaman, who died in 2011.
Memecoin Profits Amidst Speculations
Despite the ongoing controversy over Bitcoin’s creator’s identity, some traders have profited from themed tokens. Recently, memecoins inspired by cryptographer Len Sassaman have appeared on the Solana [SOL], Ethereum [ETH], and BTC networks.
Traders issued LEN tokens on these platforms, reaching market capitalizations of several million before subsequently losing some of those gains. One LEN token, claiming to be the first issued on SOL, saw a significant price increase last week, currently valued at over $1.6 million.
Additionally, SASHA tokens, named after Sassaman’s cat, have reached market capitalizations exceeding $5 million. Crypto enthusiasts have contacted Sassaman’s widow, Meredith L. Patterson, for guidance on these memecoins, receiving a Solana address for token donations in return.
