Why Litecoin Could Skyrocket Prior to Bitcoin’s Halving Event

Analyzing Litecoin's Potential Surge Amid the Fluctuation-Heavy Environment of Bitcoin’s Impending Halving

"Why Litecoin Could Skyrocket Prior to Bitcoin's Halving Event"

Key Points

  • Litecoin’s on-chain metrics suggest a potential increase before Bitcoin’s halving.
  • The number of Litecoin holders has decreased, indicating mixed market sentiment.

Litecoin, a well-known cryptocurrency, appears to be at a crucial point that could trigger a rise in its value. According to the Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) Z-Score, a measure of a cryptocurrency’s valuation obtained from Glassnode, this seems to be the case.

In the past, similar readings on the MVRV Z-Score have been followed by significant price jumps. For instance, in late February, Litecoin’s price rose from $74.62 to $94.47 just two days after a similar MVRV reading. Another instance was in March when a negative metric reading was followed by a price increase to $109.29.

Litecoin’s Performance and the Bitcoin Halving

As the Bitcoin halving approaches, it’s worth noting Litecoin’s performance during previous halvings. In 2016, Litecoin’s price increased from $3.19 to $4.12 around the time of the Bitcoin halving. However, during the 2020 halving, Litecoin’s price remained stable.

The market conditions have changed significantly since then, making it necessary to consider other metrics that could affect Litecoin’s performance. One such metric is the Realized Cap, which gives insights into the market sentiment. A rising Realized Cap suggests that coins bought at lower prices are being sold, indicating profit-taking. On the other hand, a falling Realized Cap suggests perceived undervaluation.

Litecoin’s Potential Rise

At present, Litecoin’s one-day Realized Cap is at -49.83 million, hinting at a potential bounce. If the Realized Cap drops further, the chances of Litecoin’s price rising before the Bitcoin halving could increase. However, if the Realized Cap rises, this prediction could be invalidated.

Despite the potential for a price increase, not all market participants are convinced about Litecoin’s short-term potential. This is evident in the decrease in the total number of Litecoin holders, from 8 million to 7.98 million.

The Investor Capitalization, the difference between the Thermocap and the Realized Cap, suggests that Litecoin is closer to its bottom than the top. This implies that Litecoin’s price has the potential to rise before the Bitcoin halving and continue to rise afterwards.
