Will Ethereum Surpass Bitcoin in Performance by 2025?

Analyzing the Performance Trajectory and Predicted Trends of the Two Crypto Giants

Will Ethereum Surpass Bitcoin in Performance by 2025?

Key Points

  • Bitcoin’s dominance remains high, but an upcoming altcoin season could favor Ethereum.
  • Bitcoin and Ethereum are eyeing new targets of $100k and $4k respectively, with Bitcoin currently in the lead.

Bitcoin [BTC] and Ethereum [ETH] have been performing admirably, with Bitcoin reaching an all-time high. Both coins are under scrutiny, but they are aiming for new targets—$100k and $4k, respectively.

Which Cryptocurrency Shows More Promise?

Bitcoin currently has the upper hand. The cryptocurrency reached an all-time high in November 2024, while Ethereum’s all-time high was registered during the crypto bull market of November 2021. Despite expectations that the ETH 2.0 upgrade would shift the balance, this has not been the case.

However, Ethereum is on track to reach its all-time high in the coming months. As Bitcoin reached its all-time high recently, more Bitcoin investors are in profit. According to IntoTheBlock’s data, 98% of Bitcoin addresses were “in money”, compared to 88% for Ethereum addresses.

Bitcoin’s Dominance and Future Predictions

Despite a decline, Bitcoin’s dominance remained well above Ethereum’s. Specifically, Bitcoin’s dominance stood at over 56%, while Ethereum’s dominance dropped slightly in the last 24 hours to 12.8%.

Both cryptocurrencies face issues. For example, Bitcoin’s NVT ratio has increased, indicating that both cryptocurrencies may be overvalued and hinting at potential pullbacks in the near future. However, Bitcoin’s balance on exchanges declined when Ethereum’s balance increased, suggesting that investors are still considering buying Bitcoin, while Ethereum investors are selling.

As selling pressure on Ethereum increases, the altcoin could drop to its support near $3.38 in the event of a major correction. Bitcoin, on the other hand, could soon begin a rally towards $100k, marking a new all-time high.

Despite this, Ethereum investors should not lose hope. There are chances of Ethereum outshining Bitcoin in 2025. If a fresh altcoin season occurs in the coming weeks or months, Ethereum might earn investors more profits compared to Bitcoin.

Bitcoin ETFs vs Ethereum ETFs

When comparing both cryptocurrencies, it’s important to consider their respective ETFs. Both cryptocurrencies have performed well in this area. During Bitcoin and Ethereum’s massive price hikes, their ETF inflows reached record highs. Specifically, Bitcoin ETF inflow crossed $1.3 billion on the 7th of November, while Ethereum ETF inflow surged to a record high of $295 million on the 11th of November.

Both cryptocurrencies serve different purposes, but they both have robust market capitalizations. Which cryptocurrency will outperform the other in terms of market value or profitability is a question that only time can answer.
